I have lower right now but will be going 2.85 or 2.75 upper and e85 flex fuel tune.

I dont really drone,, mds is off all the time. I don't want to spend the money on hi flow cats for nothing. This is a first post for me and this topic may have been covered before.
High flow cats vs o/r h pipe: January 1, 2010 at 9:13 pm. The stock factory cats usually do the best job of cleaning up the exhaust, but often at the cost of high backpressure.
Or is it more about the tune? The catalytic converters on a stock vehicle (especially a newer stock vehicle) just aren't that restrictive until there have been significant performance upgrades. Removing the cats gave me 3 to 4 tents faster in the 1/4 mile.

If the hi flow cats are close to the hp gain of the offroad then i would just as soon stay legal. Karl’s east coast speed 827hp shelby. High flow cats might last less, but give you lots more power.
You'll melt cats if you modify the car. Our 1000hp air flow bench reads 407 cfm stock and 549 cfm gutted and no hp gain at 775rwhp. Ran back to back tests at 600hp and 700hp.
Joined aug 4, 2010 · 85 posts. Xforce metallic and ceramic high flow cats has shown to flow as much as 550cfm for a 2.5″ ceramic cat (400cell), and 750cfm for a 3” metallic cat (200cell as tested). A good high flow catalytic converter will have an inlet and outlet the same size as the rest of the exhaust pipes to give you maximum airflow.
I already have the magnaflow mufflers so i am wanting to know what kind of gains are possible. Are these high flow cats? Todays cats are great but high flows make it flow even better which the difference between them i dont know but the cat that wasnt clogged is louder so the new cats definately flow better and of course the bad cat (clogged) flows better because stock or not the cat will flow more freely cause it isnt clogged.

The cats will reduce fuel smell. Im trying to decide if i want to go catless mids or high flow cats? The sound cut is not drastic anyways, and the smell for me doesn't exist unless the car is running rich as hell.
Sound was only slightly milder with the cats. Nowadays i think pretty much every car will have high flow cats as standard equipment, especially performance cars like the challenger. A great mod to remove them.
It is very expensive btw, not worth cost per gain imo. Loss of low end tq no way. I did the custom high flow cats removed my second cat after o2 bung installed cobra pack 28 chambered exhaust mufflers packed and it's loud but not annoying and there is no drone.
As i have been on the dyno and at the track. Headers, 3” x pipe and no cats. What are the gains, and how considerable are they, of using a test pipe or high flow cat on your car?
I am looking to get the bassani ss x pipe with high flow cats. Trick flow top end kit help. High flow cats i cant tell ya.

Thanks to import tuner (hit up the source link to find the article), we now have raw data and numbers to test the results and differences of the multiple. There is no magic super free flow catalytic converter out there and any company that tries to sell you one is not quite telling you the truth, the sad thing is, there are some web sites claiming they have high flow performance cats, and by the way at a huge inflated price, when in fact all you will be buying is the same converter you would. I think you will need a tune to shut off the rear o2 sensors due to the low cell count of the high flow cats.
Until i see some flow bench tests of stock vs. High flow cats vs stock cats. So i took my car down to the shop to have them install my catted x pipe and axlebacks, get a phone call today saying that the x pipe was actually meant to fit a gt 500.
I lost 1hp with the high flow cats. However, if you have a stock engine with no modifications, and relatively new oem catalytic converters, you won't see much of performance increase going with high flow cats. Discussion starter • #1 • dec 8, 2011.
High flow or back to back dyno runs with only the cats changed to something supposedly more high performance, i'll never buy that they aid in performance. I have heard some say the stock cats are pretty free flowing and also have read just the opposite that they are very restrictive. Aftermarket cat flow and ability to pass emissions testing can be iffy because quality varies greatly.
Contrary to popular belief, not all cats are created equally. As long as you dont live in california. If i understand correctly the stock cats are ceramic and prone to fail at higher horsepower levels.
J_dizzle new member established member. I used to be a believer in high flow cats for taming the rasp but i've had 3 friends with zl1s/zr1s melt cats and pretty much ruin $2,000+ in exhaust systems. Stock factory cat of holden vy commodore ss (on one side) has been tested to show a flow rate of 250cfm.
Stock was “0” hp on their ‘06 mustang. Show us your flow tests. I replaced both my cats on my 2000 toyota tundra after the stock ones melted, they gave me more power and a louder exhaust note, but i did notice a stronger gas smell when i was near the tailpipe and the engine was running
